Mid-March Update

Here is a closer look at the posts I have been making on Facebook during these desperate and troubled times.

March 4th
Here’s to hoping your Monday is a bright, Sprite… sunshiny day. 🎶😎

MARCH 7TH – VIDEO LINK https://youtu.be/_SF9xrCtdgE?si=eEGsOlG27OVVXME6

Today our beloved weekend cook died from something totally treatable. The number of people showing up daily asking for food has multiplied by a hundred.

No meds+no food = quadruple the number of Haitians dying (who were actually surviving before.)

It’s time – Come Lord Jesus, Come

SONG LYRICS

Verse 1
Sometimes I fall
To my knees and pray
Come Jesus come
Let today be the day
Sometimes I feel
Like I’m gonna break
But I’m holding on
To a hope that won’t fade

Chorus
Come Jesus come
We’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return
To heal every hurt
And right every wrong
We need You right now
Come and turn this around
Deep down I know
This world isn’t home
Come Jesus come
Come Jesus come

Verse 2
There’ll be no war
And there’ll be no chains
When Jesus comes
Let today be the day
He’ll come for the weak
And the strong just the same
And all will believe
In the power of His name

Verse 3
One day He’ll come
And we’ll stand face to face
Come and lay it all down
Cause it might be today
The time is right now
There’s no need to wait
Your past will be washed
By rivers of grace

COMMENTS I MADE ON THIS POST LAST WEEK

Thank you for the prayers, shares, & comments. The latest news on the radio is that all the phone service (Digicel/Natcom) wires are going to be cut so there is no more communication in country … UNLESS you have a satellite or American phone service.

We just got Starlink, so we shouldn’t be affected. But there are only a handful of organizations and businesses with this service.

AND

The last few days have been so emotionally taxing. Our church wept yesterday morning over the suffering that is happening all around us. Then we wept for hours that afternoon at Almadette’s funeral. The Dames Group carried her body and sang to the cemetery. I think all of our people took this time to lament before the Lord. The weeping was louder than most of the funerals I have attended. I believe all of us walked home completely emptied out.

The reminder from scripture that there is a time for every purpose, including mourning and rejoicing, resonates deeply within me. It serves as a beacon of hope amidst the prevailing darkness, assuring us that brighter days WILL come. We pray sooner than later.

March 11th

When the earthquake happened in January 2010, my husband was in PAP. It was a WEEK before we received communication that he did not die… alongside the hundreds of thousands who did.

Our mission truck in PAP was used to carry corpses to the hospitals. He was on that truck and had nightmares for a long time. But he knew that what he was doing served a higher purpose. (His experience was documented in People Magazine & featured on several news outlets).

Today is the funeral of our weekend cook, and I did everything possible to allow her to die with dignity.

This breaks my heart, knowing others were not given that same honor and respect.

(I know nobody wants to read such horrific things, but you also can’t pretend it doesn’t exist.)

So please pray. Not just when you read this… but multiple times a day. Prayer is not only the first thing you can do, but right now it’s the ONLY thing you can do.

My family, my community, and this country is counting on you to pray/play your part. Please, don’t forget about us – or give-up on the mass majority of Haitians who are ALSO on their knees praying.

Another Comment I made:

Reading about this distressing situation has CONTINUALLY evoked such vivid memories of the devastation brought by the earthquake. It’s been a long time since we’ve had nightmares about those early days following it.

Seeing this article is a haunting reminder of the fragility of life – and the immense suffering endured by our country.

Please pray for wisdom & discernment as we try to find solutions to the hunger crisis that is plaguing our community and those all over Haiti. It everyone’s problem and requires an ONLY GOD solution.

Thanks again for your prayers. Not only is it the easiest thing to do…BUT it’s the most important thing to do.

MARCH 12th

NEWS SPREADING ALL OVER HAITI RIGHT NOW – ARIEL HAS FINALLY RESIGNED after all the failed attempts to return to Haiti! All the streets in PAP are flooding with people celebrating!

We are watching the news conference right now!

**

“Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry has issued his resignation as the Caribbean nation’s head of government, the chair of the Caribbean Community said on Monday, leaving an unelected role he has held since the 2021 assassination of the country’s last president.”

I AM NOT SURE HOW EVERYTHING IS GONNA PLAY OUT OVER THESE NEXT FEW DAYS TO WEEKS…. BUT IT IS THE BEST NEWS WE HAVE HAD SO FAR!!

THIS IS NOT OVER BY ANY MEANS… BUT IN ORDER FOR HAITI TO MOVE FORWARD – THIS STEP HAD TO HAPPEN FIRST.
