Happy Halloween!

Since Jose, Asher, and I are heading to the states this weekend to repack crates & barrels – we are celebrating Halloween this week.

WEDNESDAY:

For Wednesday’s Staff Meeting we played Halloween Bingo! This was a lot of fun because there’s not necessarily a translation for each of the bingo spaces! We all had a blast though figuring it all out together!

After Bingo we played SPIN THE WHEEL! The wheel is numbered from 1-12. Whatever number it landed on was the number of prizes they got to take with them!

It’s been several weeks since ALL of the staff has been here at the same time. So this was a great treat to laugh & play together. Everyone left with prizes as well which always makes for a great day!

THURSDAY:

Thursday we started carving pumpkins. The pumpkins in Haiti are GREEN instead of orange! Last year we couldn’t find any pumpkins so we actually grew these on our campus! How cool is that!?!

Since we only had 4 pumpkins sprout on the property – the boys & Rosie carved them. BUT – Bena came back late Thursday night with 4 more pumpkins from Port-de-Paix! SO…. Malaya, Mikela, & Isebelle got to carve pumpkins too!

FRIDAY:

We will not be trick-or-treating around campus this year since all the candy & costumes sank with the ship.

BUT thanks to Shively Christian Church we were able to replace the cupcakes, crafts, goody bags, & games for our Halloween Party! For the past several months the kids in Children’s Church have been earning points for their participation. They get a point for coming to church, for bringing a friend, for memorizing scripture, & for answering questions. The top 30 children with the most points were invited to the party! 🙂

HALLOWEEN PARTY

At this party the children got their face painted by our lovely Susan!

We had 8 carnival games – spin the wheel for candy, knock down the cans, pumpkin bean bag toss, bowling,  ring toss, pin the nose on the pumpkin, duck pond, and stack the fruit! Children earned prizes at each station to fill-up their goody-bag!

We also played dodge ball! It took them awhile to get the concept – but they really enjoyed it.

We also made a fun craft that they can hang on their wall.

Then everyone got to eat a big meal of rice, beans, & chicken followed by cake & jello!
