Because He Still Sits On His Throne…

There’s a song they sing in Haiti all the time. If you’ve been here at all – you’ve heard it no doubt.

Tout bagay deja bien (Everything is ALREADY good)
Tout bagay deja bien (Everything is ALREADY good)
Paske Jesi chita sou twone li (Because Jesus still sits on His throne)
Tout bagay deja bien (Everything is ALREADY good)
Tout bagay deja bien (Everything is ALREADY good)
Tout bagay deja bien (Everything is ALREADY good)

2.Satan pedi batay.. (Satan Lost the Battle)
3.Jesi baunm la Victroi… (Jesus Gives us Victory)
4.Hypocrite yo seze… (Hypocrites are Surprised)

This is the song you heard on CNN post-quake.
This is the song you hear from the mouths of those who have nothing.
This is the song you hear from the parents as their baby breathes it’s last breath in their arms.
This is the song you hear from the children with small ropes tied around their bellies.
This is the song you hear from the hospital while they watch their son leave this world.
This is the song you hear when there is no food on the table.
This is the song you hear from those who have no place to lay their head.
This is the song you hear – the song Rosenayke’s father sings – as we try to save her life.
This is the song you hear when by all appearances – there is no hope.

How in the world do they sing that everything is already good when seemingly – everything is already so bad? I got out my Bible and started searching for information about the throne. These verses stood out to me:

Daniel 7:9
As I looked – thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. HIS THRONE was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended to him; ten thousands times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated and the books were opened.

1 Samuel 2:8
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; upon them he has set the world.

2 Samuel 7:16
Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me ; your throne will be established forever.

Psalm 9:7
The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

Psalm 45:6
Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

Matthew 25:31
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.

Acts 7:49
” ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be?

Colossians 1:16
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Revelation 4:2
At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

Revelation 5:13
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

*******

Here’s the thing that our eyes seem to miss – we miss the “power” of the throne.  Is there anything more powerful then He who sits on the throne? The people here are not blind. They do not lose focus on that which they cannot control but fix their gaze on the mighty throne of Jesus.

Here’s the thing that the Haitians seem to KNOW yet WE seem to overlook:

He will bring justice to those before him. When someone tries to fool us – we say we weren’t born yesterday. When someone tries to fool God – He says He wasn’t born at all! Nothing gets past HIM. He will right every wrong.

Though they are poor and have nothing but tears to give – He will wipe away EVERY SINGLE ONE from their eyes.

The book of Daniel says that God’s throne has wheels on them! How fitting – wherever He goes – whoever He helps – He STILL sits on His throne!

So though they lost what little they had in the quake…
So though their children are hungry every night…
So though they have no place to lay their head…
So though they have no strength for tomorrow…
So though this life makes no sense at all…

Everything is already okay…..because the ultimate Authority –
The God who breathes Stars into space –
Who took His own hand and created us –
Who bestows compassion on the meek –
Who never grows weary –
Who’s Grace flows like a raging river –
Who’s pockets are never empty-
Who’s power is unfathomable –
Who’s Mercy is unimaginable-
Who’s love is unheard of –
Who’s spirit is so approachable-
Who’s body we can lean into-
Who’s heartbeat we can feel –

Our Majestic King Jesus – HE HAS AND ALWAYS WILL – sit on the Almighty Throne.

And therefore folks – Everything is Already Good!

  1. You always put things in such a good perspective. Thanks for posting this. Definitely makes me want to re-examine my faith in the throne.
