Easter Choir Performance!

After two days of uploading – the video of my choir singing during Sunrise Service is finally ready!

I spliced the two songs together – I wish you could have heard them in their entirety. The first song you will recognize is called Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit You Are Welcome Here – that’s a song that many of us have heard & sang at church. There’s so many creole words to “fit in” to each verse! We sing it pretty fast….but it’s still beautiful just the same!

The other song is called I surrender. This song has a lot of meaning for us.  I talked to the congregation before we sang. Every person in this church knows sorrow – has lost someone they love – has experienced a heavy load. We know suffering all too well.

Yet we keep trying to run our lives even still  – all by ourselves. But we’re SO tired. We’re SO broken. We keep fighting – but we’re SO weak.

So why don’t we stop trying to do it all alone? Why don’t we “give up” our ways?  Why don’t we “give in” to who God is? Why don’t we stop fighting? What if we just laid by Jesus’ side?  What if we just lay it at the foot of the cross? What if we just finally  – finally – surrendered!

Oh this road has been hard
On my feet
On my heart
Led me to the gates of hell
I know sorrow all to well
Lost my love to the wind
Left me half of who I am
Heavy load
Heaven knows
I’m tired

I give up
I give in
I lay down
I surrender
I won’t fight
I won’t try
I lay down at your side
I surrender

After all I’ve been through
I can’t say what is true
But I choose to believe
There’s a hand guiding me
There is hope
There’s a home for my soul

I give up
I give in
I lay down
I surrender
I won’t fight
I won’t try
I lay down at your side
I won’t cry
Why should I?
I lay down at your side
I surrender
