Last night my momma took me and Momma Gigi out to a movie as an early Mother’s Day gift. The last few days I’ve been really sick and since I felt good last night – we went out. When we got home the girls and Gabriel had made us cupcakes!
I was expecting to wake up this morning feeling bad but to my surprise – I FELT GOOD! I went to church today – the first time in months. Most Sundays I’m in the hospital. I wasn’t sure if I had picked the right Sunday to go since the sermon was about SUBMISSION!! Seems like that should be a Father’s Day sermon!! LOL! But it was actually a really great sermon. There are very few Sundays where I don’t find myself in tears. Being in Haiti so much- we really miss the worship and fellowship of an American Church. I was right where I needed to be today.
Janeil and Heather spent most of the day here. It seems like we’re always in different countries – so being able to spend time with them before they head back to Haiti was really good for me. The kids love it too when they can all play together. They have a Hula Hoop game and seeing Janeil and Jose try to Hula Hoop is enough to make anyone laugh. – BUT – I’m not sure anyone can top Malaya shaking those hips! I laughed so hard I cried!
Jose grilled out hot dogs and hamburgers and all of us had a great evening on the porch. The kids were all playing together – being silly and very entertaining. I love watching Josiah and Gabriel interact. They’re both about the same size even though Josiah is nearly a year older. When Josiah talks – you can understand him. When Gabriel talks – you have to guess at most of his words. Watching them communicate with each other was pretty precious.
I was getting ready to call it a day and my sister just showed up at our door. She drove all the way here – 3 hours one-way – just to stay an hour and see everyone. She just left and probably won’t be home until 3am and DJ has school in the morning. That’s just crazy! But what a treat!
Just when I think I can’t catch a break – – God gives me an AMAZING DAY!! I’m so grateful I just had to share with everyone!
