Hurricane Hannah

Hannah is sitting over Haiti right now – and the Baie is beginning to flood out. The ocean is rising in Port-de-Paix by the orphanage. The children are safe but the hotel by the orphanage is being slowly consumed by ocean. St. Louis and the compound are okay right now but this could be a serious situation as we monitor the water levels in the Far west where there are some missionaries. We are talking to the missionaries out west constantly and they are safe right now and are camping out on the roof of their compound.

Without sounding too alarming – please get everyone to pray. In Gonaives the water is up to the roofs of homes. That town is in the middle of the island. In the Far west – the water is coming in their homes. We are making plan B should we need it.

AGAIN – Everyone is safe – but – we just need to monitor this situation and immerse it in prayer.

Prayers for Courtney…… Baby Sarah

I had blogged before about Sarah – the cleft-lip baby that Courtney had been taking care of non-stop since she came in July. Her parents wanted to throw her away because of her deformity. She passed away about 5 minutes ago. Courtney just called me and of course is completely broken-hearted about it. This is the baby we were trying to get a medical visa for. We had already started all the paperwork and of course Courtney couldn’t have loved this baby anymore if she were her own.

Please pray for Courtney right now with the loss of her beautiful Haitian daughter. Courtney has taught not only me- but all the Haitian people who met Sarah – what unconditional love is. She toted her around proudly. There is no doubt that anyone who saw Courtney take care of Sarah  – saw Christ. Sarah may never know how many lives she touched – but I do pray that Courtney may know how many lives that she touched through her love and care for Sarah.

I know God is holding her right now – and for the first time she has no pain, no one staring at her in disgust, but simply overwhelming love from her Father.

The Rain Came Down and The Floods Came Up

Just got off the phone with one of the manager’s at the orphanage. They said that the river that we normally take between Port-de-Paix and the Far West is really high now. It’s up to the police station and no one is able to pass. So all the places by that river are completely flooded out.  It’s rained hard for two days straight now. I talked to Matt yesterday and he didn’t have much to say for our area where the compound is at. We just got off the phone with Curtis and he said that it’s raining some and they’re just now starting to get flooded. They’ve already started sandbagging.

We talked to Wesley’s family in Gonaives and they said it’s completely flooded and people are standing on their roof tops. They said it’s worse than Hurricane Jean in that specific area. Jean killed over 3000 people in Gonaives.
